A/Prof Paul Yates

Associate Professor Paul Yates is a geriatrician with expertise in dementia and geriatric medicine in hospital and community settings, including residential aged care. He is Acting Director of the Cognitive, Dementia and Memory Service and Director of  Research, Continuing Care, Austin Health, and Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Medicine, Austin Health, University of Melbourne.  

His clinical and research interests include care of older people at the interface between hospital and community, frailty, dementia prevention, and clinical trials of novel approaches to improve outcomes in dementia. A/Prof Yates has extensive experience as Principal or Sub-Investigator on >20 clinical trials in AD, including >18 monoclonal antibody trials, and is Lead National PI and highest recruiting Australian site for the pivotal CLARITY Study of Lecanema, first disease-modifying trial for AD to achieve success in its primary endpoint, and the AHEAD A345 Study of Lecanemab in Preclinical AD. He also serves on the Dementia Australia Research Foundation Scientific Panel, the ANZSGM Scientific Advisory Committee, Steering Committee of the Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration.
